Four funky bridesmaids

So we still haven’t decided on a colour or style for the bridesmaids. Two are blonde and the other two are dark and all four have fairly sallow skin so plenty of colours will suit them.

We saw some nice ones in Debenhams like this: (just click on the link to view)

and this:

Something like this might be lovely because the wedding it will be autumn with the leaves changing colours, the colour of this dress would work well with that.

But we're not really into something like this!

None of them are too fussy about the style but we all agree no clingy material, everyone wants to be able to relax and enjoy the dinner! Some prefer short to long and others would rather straps instead of boob tubes.

We still haven’t looked anywhere else. I heard Coast have some nice dresses. Anyone know any other good shops for bridesmaids?

We are going to meet up some weekend during the summer, either in Dublin, London or Cork, and hopefully get the dresses then. It would be good if we had an idea first though so as not to put too much pressure on ourselves.

I’m having my two nieces as flower girls so they’ll be really cute. The older one will be nearly four and has promised to hold the younger one’s hand and mind her during the day, so cute! I’m sure we will pick up dresses easily enough for them in Next or Monsoon maybe? We will leave it until at least September to do that seeing as they grow so fast!

I suppose a colour scheme for the flowers will depend on the bridesmaids dresses. I quite like the idea of having a bunch of red roses but obviously we will have to wait and see what we come up with.  I know purple was a big colour last season, but not too sure about 2011.

Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  1. Debenhams and next are the best for the flower girls dresses and Dunnes do little pumps that are ideal for them. They will look so cute!

  2. The Green Dress is only fab....I heard there is a place in Castleisland in Kerry outside Tralee where you can pick a dress and they have a colour chart with every colour under the sun on it!!!

  5. Love the green dress, I think a nice coco colour could also be nice for the autumn season? When I tied the knot last year I got the bridesmaids dresses in Monsoon. They do a fab range of dresses for special occassions. Good Luck Grace x x

  11. Love the black or turquoise dresses, both very elegant and classy. Don't like the green at all...also would recommend you stay away from Coast (very common). Just an opinion. Re flowers, would stay neutral in terms of colours, someone suggested pale colours - think pale colours for either dresses or flowers would be lovely. Also think of the church when you are trying to pick colours for your flowers - some churches are very colourful (so one colour flower might be nicer than having a mix etc.).

  13. Well you have red roses in the backround here so that might be a sign!!! Def go with whatever people are comfortable in. Your bridesmaids sound like that are easy going anyway.
Go to London, make a weekend out of it!

  14. I know a couple who got their bridesmaids dresses in Coast, found the place great, got lovely summer dresses for reasonable prices! The wedding is going to cost enough anyway. Definitely wouldn't call the place common like the comment above!!

  15. Re Coast comment, I meant common among the guests too - you have no guarantee that a guest won't arrive in the same dress, that's all! They do have lovely dresses, but very popular.....

  16. Well, I suppose they are popular because they are sooo nice. I would rather have my own bridemaids in the best dresses I could find, even if it was from a more 'common' shop!
Whatever they are comfortable in and looked good I would go with, Coast or no Coast...

  17. Thanks Robyn, don't know how well lemon would go with himself's red hair...?! Grey would be lovely if, as you say, we could get well cut ones!Did you see the picture of the green ones I said wouldn't be up our alley?!

  18. Anonymous and Nicky RE Coast dresses - personally i think dresses from Coast can be really nice but it's true there is nothing worse than having someone turn up with the same dress, that's the risk you run I suppose when buying them off the rack...Do ye think ye could agree to disagree on that point?!

  19. I really like the green dress- that would def be a dress to look into. I have heard the band and they are very good. Alison

  20. The Green dress is really nice. Def stay away from coast as thats where most girls would go for a dress for a wedding and it would be awful if guests were wearing the same as the bridesmaids!!

  21. Green seems to be a winner by a mile! I wonder what the bridesmaids think of it?!

p.s- this is the first blog i've ever contributed to, imagine that stubs, you gotta get an A+ for that i reckon :)
